Diseases are so common these days. We spend a lot of money in curing it and imagine the amount of time one has to spend to meet the doctor! In addition to burning a hole in the pocket, one also has the fear of side effects on using the medicines. I have always questioned wasn’t there a better way to treat the diseases. The question was not the money but treatment which will do away with drugs and be integrated into our daily life to prevent further attacks. There was an answer and that is lifestyle medicine. It is the use of lifestyle interventions in the treatment and management of disease. Such interventions include diet (nutrition), exercise, stress management, smoking cessation, and a variety of other non-drug modalities. It has been proved that this is an effective way because it poses no risks and has absolutely side effects. If you argued that it was a slow process, imagine living life free of diseases! Isn’t that wonderful?! I would vouch for such a treatment on any day than trying to spend a few thousands to obtain a quick fix solution. An important issue to be taken care is sometimes it is necessary to integrate lifestyle medicine with the prescribed medication. Though we still take in drugs, the advantage here is the medication will be gradually reduced depending on the improvements one makes. It’s time to lead a healthy life, isn’t it?.
