My friends and Las Vegas

I am going to share a small incident which happened around 2 months back. I broke with my guy. Life looked bad; I did not want to live. There seemed to be no reason to live. Happiness was a far off thing; I never even smiled for two months. I never revealed anything to my friends either. They came to know about it through some other person. So one day, all the 3 of them dropped home as a surprise visit. I was thrilled to see them and then we all decided to go out for dinner. As we were dining, they pressed some papers in my hand. I did not know what those papers were and as I saw them I realized what was in my hand. They were the tickets to Las Vegas and the entire schedule for a week. It also included the hotel accommodation, Vegas show tickets, list of the best casinos and so on. I was shell shocked and asked them what it was all about.

They told that all the four of us were going to Las Vegas for a week. I was surprised since it was all too sudden. I told them that I might not have enough funds to take part in it and my boss wouldn’t give me a holiday. It was a lie, since I was still not over the break up and did not want to enjoy myself. My friends put another paper in my hand, which was a letter from my office granting me a week off. I was even more surprised, and before I could utter another word, they asked me to pack my things and be ready the next Saturday. They never spoke about the break up, neither did I.

I packed my things and we left that Saturday. Though I was hesitant about the trip, you will never believe the fact that I smiled when I first landed at Las Vegas. This place is so magical, it makes a person forget his sorrows. I had a rocking time there with my friends. I purchased what I wanted, attended so many concerts, and had a rocking night life. This is the one place where one should be, at least once in his lifetime.

One night when I was playing in the casino and won the game, I exclaimed to my friends that I feel elated and top of the world. They just smiled. The other day, as I was sipping my martini, I again exclaimed that life was so beautiful and it could never get more nice. As I sat watching Lion King, I again exclaimed that I felt like a princess to whom the play was staged. Each day I felt life was giving me more reasons to smile on. On the last night of our stay, I thanked my friends for such a wonderful gift and told them about the break up. They just said that they knew about it and wanted me to see the brighter side of life. This Las Vegas trip was meant to show that brighter side to me!

I am grateful to my three friends who have made me realize what it means to live and also to Las Vegas for being instrumental in bringing me back to life and knowing what friendship really means. Cheers to those three wonderful people, love you three always!

Friends determine who we are

Wondering how friends determine what we are?! An old adage goes like this”friends of same feather flock together”. So friends influence so many of our decisions, a part of our lives revolve around them! Each stage has different influences by the friends. When we are kids our dressing habits are influenced by them, as teens we look up to friends to make choices in education and at later stages talk about different aspects of life. But who are true friends or what is friendship all about? Sometimes we need people outside our families to support us, and such wonderful human beings are called friends! There is an interesting theory which compares friends with trees. Some are like the leaves, who are there for a while but then they are gone when the season change .Others are like branches, they are stronger than leaves but can’t withstand the harshness of life! This is not a bad thing but you must understand that not all friends are met to be around all the time. Some have a specific duty and are meant to accomplish it. Once they accomplish their work, they may not be a part of our lives. A few other friends are like the trunk who will be with us all our lives. A few more are like roots who will support us through the worst crisis of life! Such a variety of friends and it feels great to have a few of every kind!
